Obituary for John E. DeLara


Mr. John E. DeLara, 52, of Weston, CT. and husband of Stephanie A. DeLara passed away on Wednesday Oct. 24th at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport.

John was born on August 31, 1960 in Beacon, N.Y. and is the son of George and Catherine DeLara. He and his wife Stephanie and son JT have been residents of Weston for the past twelve years and prior to that they lived in Westport, CT. He graduated SUNY Cortland with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics in1982 and worked for many years at IBM and until his recent illness, for Pearson Education as a Vice President of Production Services. John was a loving husband and an incredible father who enjoyed coaching youth football. He was a loyal and dedicated friend. He was an active member and volunteer of the Weston Kiwanis Club and St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was a passionate Giants and Mets fan, and a genuine friend who was devoted to his family. He will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate to know him.

Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include one son; JT DeLara, 14 of Weston, CT.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral on Saturday Oct. 27th at 10:00 AM directly at St. Francis of Assisi Church 35 Norfield Road, Weston, CT. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends in the Harding Funeral Home 210 Post Road East, Westport, CT. on Friday Oct. 26th from 4 to 9PM.
